What Are Vertebral Subluxations?

Downtown Chicago Chiropractor Dr. McManus Explains

man on mobile phone

A dropped cell phone call is irritating. But dropped communications between your brain and your body can seriously impair your health!

A vertebral subluxation is a term that chiropractors use to describe a mechanical dysfunction in the spine or other joint. The consequences of a spinal subluxation are usually pain, loss of range of motion/stiffness and muscle spasm.

If it goes on long enough or is bad enough, the problem can start to change the signaling back to the brain and result in any number of problems.

What are some common symptoms?

Asymmetry of muscle tone and chronic weakness in the spine, headaches and vertigo are commonly reported symptoms but a poorly functioning spine can affect almost anything if it’s bad enough.

To the right, you will see a relatively normal x-ray study but what you can’t tell from an x-ray is how everything is functioning and that’s whats really important.
